Wet May Murray
The Mae Murray is mostly an evening hair dress and is used chiefly
by small women who wish to appear taller.
Part the hair just in front of the ears, Finger wave to face. This may be waved straight,
diagonal, wind-blown or straight back. In making the curls, sections
of 1/2" x1" should be taken. Large blockings leave wave space between the ending
of the part. Curls formed where the wave ends are fit into waves in such a manner
that the curls do not run in a straight line across the back of the head,
but rather circle around it.
The curls are made by rolling paper curl paper on a pencil or dye stick.
Then roll ends of hair on stick up to head, making certain that
this hair is held at a tension. Pin curls by weaving shank of hair pin through
the hair, leaving the roll of paper free. This allows the paper to be removed easily
without disturbing the curl. Apply net tightly, and dry hair. Remove papers and pins.
Loosen the curl. The curls may be loosened by taking the fingers and pulling slightly
in each end, or they may be combed out around the fingers. Or they may be rolled back up
on the cold marcel iron. Spray light with brilliantine.
