1940s

Audrey

Audrey is a perfect balance of the mannish tailored silhouettes of the 40s and a trend towards the ultra feminine looks that will be seen in the 50s. Stitched in burgundy felted wool, the jacket is princess line at the back and has a deeply pleated insets at bodice front. The long line of the jacket sweeps from high to low from the back to front and is framed in soft crystal pleated fabric. The sleeves are shaped with darts at the cap that brings a straight line from neck to shoulder creating the inverted triangular shape ubiquitous for the period. The jacket closes with three antique brass buttons set with amber rhinestones.

Audrey's skirt is three gore surplice style whose sweep from front to back echos the lines in the jacket. The skirt has a 1" waistband and is slightly flared at the knee. The pleated fabric at the hem brings dramatic movement to the otherwise structured look of the silhouette. Both the jacket and skirt are lined with rayon taffeta.

Dry clean only.
