1950s

Jack

These charcoal-colored wool trousers with pink, blue, yellow and mauve threads woven into the fabric create a quintessential 1950s silhouette. The 1 1/2" waistband secures the deep double pleats of the trousers that taper into 2" cuff. As with the Sid trousers, these pants have set in front pockets and double welt back pockets. You will find that the Jack will fit at the natural waistline although the rise continues to be longer than in contemporary trousers.

The Jack is paired with a honey-colored, textured, Egyptian cotton, dress shirt with large pockets. Unlike the shirts from earlier periods, the Jack is box cut so that the side seam is a straight line from armpit to waist. The placket above the cuff is now a continuous lap instead of the detailed, pointed, button placket seen in the dress shirts of prior eras. You will note that the collar is wide and has no collar stand as on occassion men were not required wear a neck tie. This is the beginning of a more casual silhouette for men.
