The Bathing Suit Collection
1950s

Sadie

Stitched in a cotton novelty print of lavenders and white, our new Sadie ensemble consists of two ensemble pieces. This fun and flirty bathing suit has a matching cover-up composed of a flattering halter vest and butterfly slacks that will take you from the beach to luncheon.

Novelty prints gained popularity in the 50s and usually depicted people, animals or everyday objects in a playful setting. This print features sailboats, seagulls, waves and beachy hunks enjoying the sun.

Sadie bathing suit's trunks and the halter mid-drift top are both based on a picture of Marilyn Monroe posing on the beach in the mid 50s. The simple triangle shaped bikini top gathers at the bust for fullness feature a small surplice and buttons at the neck and back. The trunks have built in lavender cotton knit jersey shorts, which peak out through the wrap around skirt in the novelty print. Contrasting lavender poplin can be found at the waistband, lining the skirt and framing the mid-drift top.
