This skirt was based on an illustration found in a 1935 Montgomery Ward's catalog. The Ginger skirt is very popular as it is resplendant with details. The lipstick red wool gabardine fabric gives both a tailored look to the skirt and provides good structure for the deep triple pleats which are top stitched for a trim line from waist to knee. The pleats, once no longer top stitched, serve as kick pleats. You will note the faux pockets with the flap that is repeated in the blouse. There is a 1" waistband that is secured at the waist with a 3/4" self covered button set above the side zipper.
