This lovely silk georgette gown is called Emma. Pulling the basic design elements as well as fabric selections from a vintage 1910s gown, this silhouette explores the tension between the apple green gossamer-like georgette and the luxurious, rich texture of the hunter green silk velvet. It is an interplay of the sheer and the opaque, the light and the heavy, and the vivid and dark. Emma has a double collar; a velvet shawl collar at the back and an overlapping georgette collar in the front. This silhouette has an Empire waist that is emphasized by velvet piping. The mid-drift yoke comes to points at the each side separated by three one-inch velvet buttons. The full skirt is gathered into the yoke, but is set in smoothly at the six-inch band of velvet at the hem. The back bodice yoke is unique as it comes to peaks at the shoulder. These points affect the shape of the cap of the sleeve. The lower part of the sleeve is full and gathers into a gauntlet velvet cuff with a georgette-backed flap that is set into the seam and drapes over top of the cuff. Perfect for both Summer and Winter affairs, Emma is sure to become your favorite soir??e silhouette.
